Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs Programs

Federation International (hereinafter “FJMC”) QUALITY CLUB AWARD

The Beth Sholom Men’s Club is an active award-winning member of FJMC, an international organization dedicated to the ideals, philosophy, and traditions of Conservative Judaism. Our Club is one of the most active chapters in North America, and we are proud to have received numerous awards from FJMC, including the highly coveted Quality Club Award for the past twelve years. This prestigious award recognizes us for the breadth and depth of our programming, community service, and commitment to Israel-related programs, Judaism, and synagogue life. We foster ways to learn about, bond with, and care for Israel, and we are proud to support people of all ages and interests in building bridges with Israel.  The FJMC Quality Club award says to our Club and synagogue members that our activities are outstanding, as not all clubs meet these standards.

World Wide Wrap (learning to Wrap Tefillin)

The men and women of Beth Sholom Congregation participate in the World Wide Wrap, a morning on which congregations around the world teach and celebrate the mitzvah of wrapping tefillin. The World Wide Wrap is held on the morning of Superbowl Sunday in February.

FJMC’s Middle Atlantic Region’s Man/Youth of the Year Award Ceremony

Regional synagogues host this event on a rotating basis. It allows the Beth Sholom Men’s Club and other regional clubs to honor our most outstanding club volunteer and recognize his impact on our club, synagogue, and community. It provides our club with a meaningful way to acknowledge the efforts of our volunteers. Recognition is integral to volunteer retention and connects them to the Men’s Club. Our Man of the Year always receives our club’s prestigious Norman H. Abrahamson award before being designated as our Club Man of the Year.

SHOAH YELLOW CANDLES

Since 1988, every Beth Sholom member family has received a Shoah Yellow Candle™ with compliments of the Men’s Club.  We are proud to continue the tradition of honoring our ancestors by participating in the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs Shoah Yellow Candle™ program by providing our congregation with candles modeled after traditional Yahrzeit candles. The FJMC Shoah Yellow Candle™ program allows families to speak about events leading to the Holocaust, perhaps for the first time, and raise awareness of what can happen if Anti-Semitism goes unchallenged. Before lighting the candle on Erev Yom HaShoah, we ask for your generous donation to ensure we can continue this initiative and fund synagogue and community-wide Holocaust educational efforts.

HEARING MEN’S VOICES

Hearing Men’s Voices is a unique program that engages Jewish men in Jewish life, enabling a deeper connection and better relationships among our members. Trained leaders facilitate sessions and encourage men to talk and engage in rich and meaningful dialogues about common issues using materials developed by the FJMC Clubs. These are a series of small group discussions led by a trained facilitator. The goal is to connect, learn from each other, and explore our feelings about the meaning of life.
